Jakarta - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) family participated in a trip to Turkey and Germany this week. This thing sparked public questions in cyberspace and public policy observers.

This also responded by the Palace. As explained by Head of Press Bureau of Presidential Secretariat, Bey Machmudin, although they participated in the presidential plane, cost of family travel was borne solely by President Jokowi.

"President asserted that all travel and accommodation expenses of family members of President who participated in trip to Turkey and Germany from 5 to 9 July 2017 became personal responsibility of President," Bey explained in Jakarta, Sunday (9/7).

Before leaving, said Bey, President Jokowi has conveyed it to Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Winata Supriatna before leaving on July 3, 2017.

Bey added, Jokowi family members sat in the plane room that used to occupy only Jokowi and First Lady Iriana Widodo. So that their existence did not reduce the seat for official delegation.

Mensesneg Pratikno, said Bey, has also explained cost of this trip. Pratikno confirmed that Jokowi has set savings by not renting a commercial aircraft despite a long trip.

The Boeing Bussiness Jet-2 (BBJ-2) presidential aircraft needs to be refueled after 10 hours of travel. But Jokowi still use it even though doing a long distance trip to the United States (US).

"President's order is clear and resolute for effectiveness and efficiency - there is no need to rent a plane even though it travels to the US, a minimized advance team, and the number of delegates that is limited by aircraft capacity," Pratikno said as quoted by Bey.

Though the state budget has a budget if the presidential party chose to lease a large aircraft owned by Garuda Indonesia airlines. But Jokowi choose to keep using BBJ-2 aircraft.

The number of advance teams or predecessor team was trimmed by Jokowi up to 40 percent. While the number of delegates on the plane presidency amounted to 42 people.

"Therefore, the participation of President's family during a visit to Turkey and Germany will not burden state budget," said Bey.

Previously, Deputy Secretary General of Forum Indonesia for Budget Transparency (Fitra) Apung Widadi asked President Jokowi or the Presidential Palace transparent about Jokowi family who participated to Turkey and Germany.

"In my opinion, indeed the President or his staff should explain their travel costs," said Apung in Jakarta, Saturday (8/7).

"Use personal or borne by state, if it is borne by state how much, how the rules are, so far it is not clear transparency," he said.

In addition to the budget, according to Apung, should also be explained about Jokowi family activities during there. Because, usually only the First Lady who accompanies the work of the President abroad, not the whole family.

"If Jokowi himself visits his work, then his family is vacation or how? When Jokowi spend his time working in the office, but if the travelers use public money, this is painful in the middle of the deficit budget," said Apung.

As is known, President Jokowi brought all his extended family to Turkey and Germany. Not only the First Lady Iriana, Jokowi also brought her three children, Gibran Rakabuming, Kahiyang Ayu, and Kaesang Pangarep. Wife of Gibran, Selvi Ananda, also participated in the group. So is the son of Gibran and Selvi, Jan Ethes, who is only one year and four months old.
